Report: Until Prices Drop, VR Will Thrive on Mobile

Mobile virtual reality gaming is turning into big business.

Co-ordinate to marketplace research business firm SuperData Enquiry, the mobile VR gaming marketplace is "on track" to hit $861 million this year.

"Samsung will soon aggrandize the mobile VR audience past bundling complimentary Gear VR headsets with pre-orders of its Galaxy S7 smartphone," SuperData wrote in a Thursday web log mail. "Google, which already dominates the low-end of mobile VR with Cardboard, wants to movement upmarket and is rumored to exist working on a Gear VR competitor."

Simply SuperData predicted that "mobile is how mainstream consumers volition feel VR in the near time to come," due to the high toll of headsets like the upcoming Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. The Rift will set yous back $600 while the Vive from HTC and Valve is priced at $800. That's on top of the cost of a powerful PC required to use these devices.
